What’s New?

As some of you may know I had the pleasure of meeting Folorunso Alakija  this past weekend at The World Cancer Day event in Albany, NY.  Folorunsho Alakija is a Nigerian businesswoman, one of the richest African women and also one of the richest black women in the world. In 2014 she unseated Oprah Winfrey as the richest woman of African descent in the world. She is a business tycoon involved in the fashion, oil and printing industries.

It was an amazing experience and one I won’t soon forget. She was gracious, humble and very engaging. She patiently waited while photos were taken and even got out on the dance floor with the vendors and visitors to the event.
I had the honor of presenting her with a gift, one of Velvet’s Totes for Hope. It is so exciting to think that one of our totes has made it to Nigeria!
Check out our FB page for more photos from the event.
